The term hacker originally meant software programmer. Now, it means a "computer security" specialist. A "blackhat" hacker, formerly known as "cracker", is used to describe security enthusiasts who access remote systems without authorization for profit or personal gain. The term "white hat" hacker refers to a security professional who stops these attacks.
