VOIP, Voice Over Internet Protocol, allows people to talk and video chat over the internet e.g. Skype. Many Internet providers are now offer house phones that use VOIP instead of expensive landlines. As it is a new technology VOIP is also vulnerable. Many of the vulnerabilities or in Asterisk an open source protocol. There are also other problems with VOIP such as default passwords, call monitoring etc. When VOIP is exploited the hacker can commit Toll fraud, eavesdrop on the victim, call-id spoofing, DOS and many other things.
