Getting Irssi, Socat, Tor and Screen

Debian/Ubuntu

 
$ sudo apt-get install irssi socat tor screen
 

Gentoo

 
$ sudo emerge irssi socat tor screen
 

Arch Linux

 
$ sudo pacman -S irssi socat tor screen
 

Connecting to the IRC

Method 1

Transparent proxy your connection

 
$ irssi
/connect -ssl netseclgxigdsvpj.onion 6697
 

Method 2

 
$ screen -S connections
$ tor
ctrl-a + c
$ socat TCP4-LISTEN:4242,fork SOCKS4A:localhost:netseclgxigdsvpj.onion:6697,socksport=9050 
ctrl-a + d
$ irssi
/connect -ssl localhost 4242
